In Schools and the Community
Essential Training for Teens and Adults
Teenagers who are at most risk for domestic minor sex trafficking often have no concept of its reality. Their peers are often unaware of the risk to the teens around them. We provide strategic presentations in schools and other venues such as churches and community groups to raise awareness of the threat of sex trafficking for young people. This training provides specific tools to help attendees recognize threats and vulnerabilities to which young people may be exposed, as well as practical ways to protect them from victimization including how to establish healthy boundaries in relationships.
In addition, Gracehaven provides regular preventative education training directly to homeless or runaway youth who are served by organizations such the Huckleberry House Crisis Shelter and the OSU Star House. This outreach is critical for these youth who are at significantly higher risk for trafficking because they are on the streets.

"We can't wait to have you come back and speak to the rest of our students! This information is so important and your presentation is so good!"
"Iris's presentations are so powerful. She does a great job at helping people understand the realities of human trafficking and she is also very personable and easy to listen to. I am so grateful for the work she does and her heart for the mission of Gracehaven."
Training and Technical Assistance
Targeted Training for Professionals
Gracehaven provides training and technical assistance to inform, prevent, and enhance the state's response to human trafficking. We are committed to building the capacity of both professionals and communities to identify and respond to the complex needs of youth who have been trafficked and exploited.
We offer training to first-responders, community and faith-based organizations, licensed social workers, child welfare professionals, healthcare practitioners, justice professionals, housing authorities, public health agencies and other professions to ensure each young person who has been trafficked is recognized and offered comprehensive, survivor-informed care. We accomplish this by collaborating with partners throughout Ohio, as well as the nation, to deliver skill-building and enhancing trainings that are coordinated, innovative and results driven.
Trainings have been conducted for, among others:
Ohio Association of Child Caring Agencies (OACCA)
Center for Family Safety and Healing
Huck House, YMCA PALS, and Big Brothers Big Sisters
The Ohio State University
Public school personnel and teachers
Columbus Public Health Department
