We are committed to equipping and empowering students of all ages to be agents of change in the fight against child-sex trafficking and exploitation. Below, we have listed our various school-based workshops. If you are interested in bringing these presentations to your school, click on the Education Inquiry Form below, or contact our education team at info@gracehavenohio.org.
Youth and Human Trafficking
This 45-60 minute session is appropriate for students in 6th-12th grade and covers the myths and realities of human trafficking - including labor and sex trafficking. Students will learn about the relational dynamics involved in trafficking and will be introduced to the concepts of safe employment, safe relationships, and consent. Students will learn how to protect themselves and others from trafficking and be given resources for support.
Social Media and the Developing Brain
This 45-60 minute session is appropriate for students in 6th-12th grade and covers the benefits and risks of social media use for youth. Students will learn about the impact of social media on relationships, mental health, and brain development. Students will be introduced to social media's role in trafficking and sextortion, and will be presented with strategies and resources to promote safety online.
Rooted and Resilient
Gracehaven's healthy relationship series, Rooted and Resilient, features four 45-60 minute sessions for students in 6th-12th grade. We recognize that trafficking awareness education is important for providing students with language for and and understanding of the issue, but unless paired with crucial relationship skill building often falls short of preventing trafficking. The Rooted and Resilient series slows down the teaching so that students walk away with applicable skills in recognizing and developing healthy boundaries, maintaining healthy relationships, understanding trafficking, and using social media safely. When combined with ongoing support from safe and consistent adults, the Rooted and Resilient series supports students in developing protective factors that ultimately prevent trafficking and exploitation.
