“I Wouldn’t Be the Person I Am Today without Gracehaven”

“Anne” kept to herself when she first came to Gracehaven’s residential campus. She was nderstandably reserved and wary given her exploitation and trauma. She initially refused to engage much in our therapeutic services, but then something changed. She began making friends and she realized that the Gracehaven staff was here to support and strengthen her in her healing journey.

Anne met regularly with her case manager, Tressa. Over time, Tressa intentionally built a trusting relationship with her. They talked a lot about healthy relationships, what exploitation looks like and how to resolve conflict in a positive way.

After several months, Anne completed her time at Gracehaven and returned to the community, but she continued to meet with Tressa. After nearly a year of services, Tressa says that Anne “has truly blossomed into an amazing young lady!”

The once shy girl now actively advocates for others to receive the sort of help that changed her own life for the better. Anne also works with local organizations to help underserved communities.

She thanks Gracehaven and those on her care team for the support they patiently gave her to become the best version of herself. As Anne said to Tressa, “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the people at Gracehaven believing in me.”
