Did You Know?
Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world generating an estimated $150 billion per year worldwide. It is estimated that a quarter of these victims are children.
Underreporting and misidentification of trafficking make child trafficking difficult to quantify, but a 2019 prevalence study identified 1,032 Ohio youth who had been trafficked between 2014 & 2016, and an additional 4,209 youth who presented with risk factors for trafficking. Victims are both male and female and come from all geographic areas, socioeconomic levels, and racial and ethnic backgrounds. It’s happening in all 88 counties of Ohio and it's in our own backyard.
Gracehaven's programs are carefully designed to most effectively meet the needs of everyone impacted by human trafficking -- from middle and high school students learning about it, to first responders and professionals who identify victims, to the survivors who've experienced it firsthand.
